Yellow Brick Games Unveils First Playable Demo and More Exciting Updates for Eternal Strands Ahead of Tokyo Game Show

Quebec City, Thursday, September 19, 2024 – Eternal Strands, the highly anticipated action-adventure game from Yellow Brick Games, is set to make a powerful impression at Tokyo Game Show 2024 with a series of announcements including a public playable demo, new 2D trailer, and additional languages added at launch in Early 2025.

First Public Playable Demo Debuts at Tokyo Game Show

For the first time, the general public will be able to experience Eternal Strands firsthand at TGS 2024 on the PlayStation 5 console. Attendees can dive into the vibrant world of the Enclave to take down one of the game’s nine Epic bosses – the Ark of the Living Flame. Thomas Giroux (CEO) and Jeff Skalski (Executive Producer & COO) will be on-site for the duration of the event, welcoming visitors, media and creators to come visit the booth located in the general area of the convention*.

"We were overwhelmed by the excitement around our game when media and content creators got the chance to get their hands on our exclusive demo during Gamescom. Eternal Strands really is a game you need to play to understand its hook through physics-based gameplay and magical powers synergies. We’re very excited for visitors attending TGS to discover what makes our game so special and creatively come up with their own strategies to defeat the Ark of the Living Flame." - Frédéric St-Laurent B., Game Director.

New 2D Trailer Revealed: An Artistic Collaboration with Du Coup

This brand-new 2D animated setting trailer gives fans their first glimpse at the game’s opening cutscene, which was made in partnership with Quebec City-based animation studio Du Coup Animation and features music from the game’s Grammy Award-nominated composer Austin Wintory (Journey, Stray Gods, The Banner Saga, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate). Drawing inspiration from Du Coup’s award-winning work on indie game Sea of Stars (Sabotage Studio), Eternal Strands will feature several key moments brought to life through hand-drawn 2D animation, adding an additional layer of depth and artistry to the game’s storytelling alongside Wintory’s dynamic soundtrack.

"In recent years, there’s been a growing trend of seeing our favorite movies and games adapted into animated shows. Titles like Castlevania, Cyberpunk, and, of course, Arcane—which was a major inspiration for us—come to mind. We opted for a 2D format to offer our players a rich and varied visual experience. Collaborating with the studio Du Coup was both an exciting journey and a rewarding challenge, as we worked to blend our in-game aesthetics with the animated style. I believe we’ve successfully brought these two mediums together. For me, it’s also a fantastic way to showcase and celebrate the talent of other Quebec studios. And who knows? Maybe one day, we’ll see our own Eternal Strands series—it would be a dream come true." - Sébastien Primeau, Art Director

Expansion of Localization: Now in Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese

In an ongoing commitment to making Eternal Strands more accessible to players across the globe, Yellow Brick Games has also announced that the game’s interface and subtitles will be fully localized in three additional languages: Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese. This news follows the announcement of a selection of the game’s English voice cast during last month’s Gamescom, with the remainder of the English and French voice actors to be revealed at a later date.

The development team invites everyone to visit their booth at Tokyo Game Show to be among the first to experience what Eternal Strands has to offer with towering bosses, action-packed gameplay, and creative solutions using the game’s magical abilities.
